I saw the flaming lips at the City Stages festival in Birmingham AL, having only heard of them on a few commercials before. After that concert, my favorite band changed from Led Zeppelin, of which it had been for years, to the Flaming Lips. It also didn't hurt that they played a cover of Led Zeppelin's "The Song Remains the Same", of which I have never heard a cover performed more vivid and living. I also must elaborate that when the Lips played Race for the Prize in opening, it was quite possibly the most amazing moment in my life. Thank you all for perpetually changing my life. :)
