Embryonic Deluxe Limited Edition 2CD/DVD

I got my copy of Embryonic and my original litho a month and a half ago. So when I got a tube in the mail today marked Warner Bros. Records I freaked out. Can't wait to get it framed and up on the wall. An excellent present to go with an excellent album.

I ordered the limited edition cd over a month ago now and had email confirmation that it had been shipped but still haven't received anything. I don't want to be impatient, just wondering if anyone else in australia has been waiting too.

Can anyone verify that this is a proper DVD-Audio disc (as opposed to a DVD-Video that contains the audio album)? I purchased the 3-disc version w/o the limited edition fur packaging, and the included DVD is definitely not a DVD-audio. I'm only able to get it to play back at 48K. Is there a difference between the more widely available 3-disc set, which I have, and the $40 version available from flaminglips.com in terms of what's on the discs? I can do without the faux fur, but I'm majorly disappointed that I can't get the full 96K sound..................................

this iiiis a true double album:

vinyl holds about 20 minutes (give or take) on each side. this album is over 70 minutes. it takes up atleast 4 sides of vinyl. 4 divided by 2 (the number of sides on each piece of audio vinyl) equals 2. a 2 vinyl album? ah yes, a double album.

as for the deluxe CD edition, i have to assume they make the cuts along the same places that they will on the vinyl version, keeping the album's flow a little more in tact. my non-deluxe CD is sans this nice little detail.

I hear everybody complaining that this isn't DOUBLE ALBUM. Look, it is advertised as having 18 songs, right? Well as long as it does have 18 songs, who cares if it's all on 1 cd or 2? This album is AMAZING!!!!!! It gets better every listen!!! DOES ANYONE KNOW WHEN THESE GUYS ARE PLAYING ANYWHERE IN THE SOUTHEAST? I've never seen these guys live, but have been wanting to for YEARS NOW!!!! PLEASE SOMEONE LET ME KNOW SOMETHING ON THIS!!!!!!

whats up guys? 70 mins, 2 cds? last time i checked 70 mins was less time than a single cd holds... why is this being touted as a double album if its less than 80 mins long? i love your band and everything but i guess i was just expecting a bit more time is all, especially since you had ample space for nearly 90 more mins of music. By the way, I do love this album, I'm just a little bit confused is all.

Embryonic appears to be a double album, whether purchased in the standard or the deluxe edition. Does the deluxe edition come with the bonus tracks that are available to purchase on itunes? ( "UFOs Over Baghdad", "What Does It Mean?", "Just Above Love", "Anything You Say Now, I Believe You")

I did not receive the lithographs that are supposed to come with the cd. other than that I can't complain. Great album. Trippy music. Can't wait until you guys come back to florida saw you last year at the house of blues in orlando and brought friends to pompano the next night to experience it all over again. let me know if I can get the liths maybe later.thank you.

So, I read all the reviews and press for this album and they all seemed to be saying it was a 2-CD double album.

I've just bought it and it's just one CD containing all the advertised tracks. So what are the extras that you get on the 2-CD version included in the deluxe set?

I see many posts complaining that the DVD disc is a scam since it's not 5.1 surround. Though surround sound may be the ultimate presentation for material like this, I am still excited to hear the Lips in 24-bit, 96khz stereo. On a good set of speakers, surround system or not, you likely will hear more dynamics and sharper clarity. I can't wait to check it out.

Just wondering if thier is a problem with the Embryonic cd/dvd printed materials. I purchased the cd/dvd set from a local record store and got it home and the pages are stuck together. I took it back to the store, they refused to exchange it because I had broken the plastic wrapper from the outside. WTF. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Trying to get this exchanged!

i heard a streamed version of the whole album and...........um...........well, there was way too much to take in. my mind and ear were literally fighting with each other over what to pay attention to. this album is so unconventional. way more experimental, which is what the flaming lips is all about. i am so excited to receive my deluxe cd/dvd. i just went and bought a pair of high end headphones so i can experience my upcoming adventure privitely in my own skull. steven & wayne can not be matched by any artist today. may the lips be aflamed forever!!!!! and may the whole world see the light, which is beaming from wayne's giant hands!!!!!!!

So I just got mine in the mail. And out of curiosity...how on earth do you get it out of the fur?

Where's the 8-Track?

Cheap Trick released their album on 8-Track, why not the Lips?

"Fur", I'm assuming, must mean fake fur.

Anyway, its a great album, full of the 'freakout' stuff some of us have been hoping for. Worm Mountain is amazing.

I'm really psyched for this dark psychedelic masterpiece coming out, yes I've heard it and am looking forward to the official release to hold it and hear the tracks in high quality sound. Though I may not actually get this version, money problems, I will be getting the 2CD/DVD version for sure.

As far as I know Kliph has mentioned that there would be no 5.1 version of Embryonic so if they do decide to do one it will be nice surprise if not and they already have said they won't so don't be disapointed I'm sure the High-Res DVD will suffice.

As there are many different versions choose the one that you want and buy the fucking thing.

In response to the PETA link I would say it is fake fur, look at the product description before making stupid claims the word fur is inverted commars "fur" indicating that it is fake, just as Wayne used to pour "blood" on his head at the start of the Spark That Bled, which was fake blood not real. Whilst I do agree that the fur trade should be shut down and support the opposition of real fur being sold or used seeing ridiculous comments as below just cheapens the entire movement so please check the facts before making claims. Wayne can you make a statement to end these ridiculous claims by PETA by saying it is fake fur and that the Flaming Lips support the opposition to real fur being sold or used.

Wow... you guys need to calm down a bit. When have the Flaming Lips ever released their 5.1 mixes at the same time as the initial release? That stuff takes some serious time. I'm sure they'll do a 5.1 mix eventually, the dudes are in full blown tour mode right now though, relax. If you don't want to buy this version that's fine, but I think all the stuff included is pretty awesome, I mean come on, the fur packaging? Vaginalarific! I don't see why some of you are getting so upset at a band you seem to be big fans of. Have you even listened to the album yet? (streaming on www.colbertnation.com til Monday) It's amazing stuff, even in webstreamed mp3s in stereo. It will be well worth the wait for a 5.1 mix, but I'd imagine with all the layers of sound going on in this album it's going to take a lot of work to finish. I too got a little bit excited for a 5.1 mix when I first saw that a DVD was included, but a quick read of the description seemed to clear up that issue pretty quick. It sucks if you bought it thinking it was the 5.1 mix but perhaps you should have paid attention? Regardless it is merely a pre-order, I'm sure you could cancel it if you wanted, or at least return it for a refund when it shows up. A sell out or money grab, this is not, seems like to me it's just another of their many ways they go out of their way to do cool shit for their fans.
