It seems strange that two titles that have been named, 'Shapeless' and 'I Don't Understand Karma', are not part of the list. Could be change of titles, who knows?
it is a good chance that this is somewhat accurate.
The titles are pretty realistic so i could be wrong.
That's about 70 minutes of music -- which seems a little short to necessarily warrant double-album status in this day and age, although a peek at the running times of classic 2LPers makes that seem pretty reasonable.
Blonde on Blonde (the first studio double album) - 71:23
Exile on Main St. - 67:17
London Calling - 65:08
The Beatles - 93:35
Physical Graffiti - 82:15
The absent titles are suspicious. The Wiki page contradicts itself. And provides references to the missing ones and not the tracklist.
I don't think Convinced of the Hex makes that good an opener.
odd there are 5 astrology titles and several animal ones which won't make Steven happy. seems like a fake sort of like people making fake Sufjan Stevens tracklists with crazy long titles.
I do like the idea of 18 new songs though.
maybe the astrology titles make sense. Steven is a Gemini and that title unfortunately fits, one for band member plus ???
i'd say some of the individual tracks are quite short too... the lips can't usually restrain themselves to 2 minute tracks, now can they?
Also, these titles use too many established cultural symbols -- swords, astrology, animals -- whereas Wayne has a tendency to lend meaning to more unusual, concrete things. Even if somehow this were real, I'd stand by the fact that this is atypical and slightly flimsy titling. FAKE.
Scorpio Sword sounds like a high school metal band. But who knows, maybe I'll be way wrong and not only will this be the tracklist, but Scorpio Sword will be my official jam of 2k9.
I agree:
"Somewhere along the way it occurred to me that we should do a double album," Coyne says. "Just this idea that you can kind of weave a couple of themes into there and you can sort of sprawl a little bit."
The track times seem a little short for sprawling and the total length doesn't seem to deserve double album status. Nevertheless, at 70 or so minutes, it will be their longest album yet.
My guess is it's a fake tracklist, look at the track length for "The Impulse" which is listed at 3.30 whereas the actual length on the Embyronic EP is 4.06. Also this is only a single disc album length, though I don't expect a 140+ minute double CD being released I would expect it to be a double CD at around 90-100 minutes in length (45-50 min each disc); Shapeless and I Don't Believe in Karma aren't even listed and the number of astrological tinged titles just don't add up, Wayne may be obsessed with the universe but not astrology. The number of sub 3 minute songs also don't add up, not including the Christmas on Mars OST, since the first few albums only six tracks have been under 3 minutes and now there's 6 on one album, mmm, does seem dodgy though the track "The Sparrow Looks Up At The Machine" has to go down as best named fake-track name....or there again it is the actual track listing guess we'll find out soon enough!
All Hail Eris!!!!!
All Hail Eris!!!!!
I'm not going to pay any mind to this. I don't want to know the tracklisting. It's kinda like snooping for Christmas presents.
www.myspace.com/blacktreesbandpage silence is part of the music
www.myspace.com/blacktreesbandpage silence is part of the music
That is the tracklist.
Aquarius is spelled wrong and "IF" should be "If", but that's the track list.
FYI - "Shapeless" is now called "The Impulse" and "I Don't Understand Karma" (and 3 or 4 others) didn't make the cut.
CONFIRMED!
this is getting me soooo pumped
No one is ever really POWERLESS!
now the shirt has a possibly connection to the song..!
Pumped!!!
sounds awesome. the track lengths are a bit of a bummer though; i usually like to wait til i hear an album and be surprised at the lengths of the songs...
so how about that August 4 release date? :D
Wow, surprising. But then again, to be surprised is really what I should have expected, knowing this band and having heard the 3 new tracks.
I maintain that the tracklisting doesn´t particularly strike me -- but tracklistings scarcely have any bearing on the content of an album.
Thanks Kliph for confirming that the tracklisting is in fact real.
Just one thing, is it a different version of "The Impulse" on Embryonic to that which came out on the EP as they have different running times?
The song titles definitely don't give anything away with how it will sound and am really looking forward to it coming out and hearing it all for the first time, especially "The Sparrow Looks Up at the Machine", fantastic song title, probably the best name of a track!
All Hail Eris!!!!!
All Hail Eris!!!!!
Does Steven dislike animal songs or something? I must've missed that if that's the case. Where did you hear that?
I think there was a quote from steven in the Staring at Sound book about This Here Giraffe. Something along the lines of "oh noes, not more wacky cartoony animal lyrics over my badass music!"
Steven also did not like Buggin' and other animal songs later. He preferred the emotional stuff or event he cosmic lyrics.
I cant wait for this album to debut!
So are they still in post production, or are they done with the album?
Thanks Spencito and JamesOsmer for the info and the This Here Giraffe tip. I'll have to read that again. If you remember James, where did you hear/ read he doesn't like Buggin'?
I just find this interesting from a guy who's working on a kids album and wrote a Groundhog's song. I guess not the lyrics, but still
aw, seriously? :( what's with the double length album thing? that'd fit on one disc! as someone else said for them to make a big deal about it being a double album i imagined a good 100 minute album at least.
unless the track lengths are wrong? can you please clarify, Kliph?
(is that even the real Kliph...? lol)
it was either in Staring at Sound or in a separate interview.
so do you guys think disc 1 ends after 'Powerless'?
or possibly 'The Ego's Last Stand'??
See the leaves is quite similar to Hex on first listen but the way both songs finish is obviously completely different.
counting down til oct 13.

I don't understand why "I Don't Understand Karma" and "3 or 4 others" wouldn't make the cut when there's clearly enough room on the album for it. Very strange decision, but I'm still psyched about the album.

Gonna go out on a limb and say fake... whilst there is some reputable information on Wikipedia, it generally doesn't start there.
