Personally, I loved it compleatly! I thought they did a great job with making it their own, and stardeath and the white dwarves we're amazing too! I really loved it! What did everyone else think?

I think it’s an excellent album. It totally makes you look at the original in a completely new way. The lips seem to be able to cover songs in a way unlike any other band. There cover of Neil Young’s After the Gold Rush gives me goose bumps and I would have said nobody can cover Neil.

Amazing Listen!

Amazing album and it came out the way I thought it would; completely original. I loved what they did with Great Gig and Brain Damage! Most Flaming Lips fans really appreciated this cover and it was unbelievably creative. Was the world or Pink Floyd cult fans ready for this? Apparently not.

But, who cares?

embryonic was a great album,

embryonic was a great album, but this... this was shit. saw the boys perform this live last new year and it was just lame. star death is a great band and the Lips are much better then this, and the fans.. the fans kill it for me. Most fans believe enything this band does now is going to be the shit. 2 thumbs down. Pink floyd great band, and lets not forget FLOYD were the creators of this album. REMAKES and COVER albums should be a FUCKING crime. WHats next? Will the Coen brothers remake "true grit"????

No, because they already remade The Ladykillers.

Thought it was pretty good.

Thought it was pretty good. Obviously no one should expect it to be better than the original, but it is nice to have different takes on all of the songs instead of a note for note cover. Can't see myself listening to it a whole lot (especially not like I listen to other Flaming Lips albums), but definitely a cool project.

Any reason why they changed

Any reason why they changed breathe into that stupid repetitive bass line from what they played it as in 2003.

I'm not calling it good or bad myself, but I'd wager that represents an Embryonic influence, what with all the repetitive bass lines on the new album. You can almost hear them transitioning from Breathe into Convinced of the Hex (or Sparrow, or Watching the Planets)

Yeah i can see that but the

Yeah i can see that but the bass lines on embryonic were good for example worm mountain or Sagittarius Silver Announcement. It seems like they combined breathe with a shitty outtake from embryonic. I'm just glad they fucked up on dark side and not on embryonic, and I wish they would play embryonic all the way through instead of dark side in future concerts.

I think they are putting too

I think they are putting too much time and energy into this project, fuck they're going to play it again at Bonaroo, for fucks sake, I'd rather they played the whole of Embryonic or any of their other albums before doing a cover of somebody else's album. The cover is a bit of fun filling in studio time, which is all it is as compared to their original material it just doesn't compete with anything but Telepathic Surgery, which imho is their worst album. Saying that it is better than most albums released last year but it just ain't what I want from the Flaming Lips, I know they do love to do covers, and some of their covers have been good but a whole album, fuck no, especially live, live I want to hear their own material, which is fantastic, not them arseing around covering an entire album when they could play one of their own albums from beginning to end or play some of their old tracks which they haven't played in years.

Dark Side of the Moon takes away from the sublime genius of the Flaming Lips own work and the timing of it's release misplaced only months after the release of Embryonic which is a work of genius and deserves to be played in it's entirity live.

I have to agree on the doubtful timing of DSOTM after Embryonic.... it really feels all the attention is now focussed upon the Moon record whilst the world was just getting to know the splendid, new and original Lips sounds of Embryonic.... feels like Embryonic's been put second place in the Lips' album timeline real fuckin fast.. just really, WAY too quickly.... a decision that can never be rewinded..

I wonder if a couple of years from now people would still cross-reference Dark Side of the Moon with Embryonic as part of a same era. As much as I love the Lips DSOTM record, it would be a bit of a shame because they're two separate body of work gems.
