Burbank, CA - For the past two decades, THE FLAMING LIPS has remained one of the world's most influential experimental creative forces in rock music. Each new release has been greeted with ecclesiastical anticipation and embraced by both critics and a loyal, ever-growing/evolving universal fan mass. It is with great pleasure that THE FLAMING LIPS announces their brand new double-album entitled, EMBRYONIC, to be released later this year. This marks their first full studio set in three years following their Grammy Award-winning AT WAR WITH THE MYSTICS. EMBRYONIC, THE LIPS' 12th album, was recorded in Fredonia, NY and Oklahoma City, OK, with studio whiz and general co-conspirator Dave Fridmann and just may be their most sonically adventurous and compositionally vernal form of musical expression ever.
Summer 2009 US tour dates have just been confirmed and THE LIPS are so appreciative of their die-hard touring fan base that they're giving them a sneak peek at the new album. With every concert ticket bought online, fans will receive a digital EP allowing them to hear new LIPS music before anyone else. The EP will be comprised of three brand new recordings from EMBRYONIC: "Convinced Of The Hex," "The Impulse," and "Silver Trembling Hands," followed by three additional rare B-side tracks selected by the band themselves. That same ticket buyer will also receive an official live LIPS' digital download bootleg of the show they attend. Leading online distribution company Basecamp Productions is facilitating the production and delivery of the live music.
How it works: Each fan who buys a ticket will receive a special code that allows them to get their music from THE FLAMING LIPS website: www.flaminglips.com.

Any news on 2010 tour dates?
I took a week off of doing my webcam shows and went to see the Lips at the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado last summer. Amazing show!!! But I want to know if there are any plans for any 2010 shows? I'm busy teaching people how to make money on webcam, and saving my money so I can see as many concerts as possible in 2010. My fingers are crossed. Hopefully there will be an update soon!

Not only can I not wait for the new album... But now I have to NOT be able to wait for the Philly show!!! A PLAGUE UPON MY WANTING!!!! Seriously though, I flew out to OKC from PA to see the NYE show PDQ... I love letters... Nonetheless, it was beyond any comprehension of the human psyche. This will be number 4 for me. I love how the Lips shows aren't just musical shows. They are truly experiences unto themselves. No 2 shows are ever alike. And no 2 shows are comparable. I'm bringing my friend who has NEVER seen them before. Part of my excitement is going to be the look on his goofy face... Someone tell Wayne to play Turn It On again... Please?
